[Shincheonji Volunteer] ‘Daily Water Conservation Campaign’ with Chuncheon Citizens

[Shincheonji Volunteer] ‘Daily Water Conservation Campaign’
with Chuncheon Citizens

On March 20th, in celebration of World Water Day, a special campaign was held in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. The ‘Protect the green nature’ Water Conservation Campaign, hosted by the Shincheonji Volunteer Chuncheon Branch, encouraged people to recognize the importance of water conservation and put it into action!

Chuncheon is a city blessed with beautiful lakes such as Uiamho, Soyangho, and Chuncheonho. However, South Korea is classified as a water-scarce country, making the conservation of water resources even more crucial. To raise awareness, the Shincheonji Volunteer Chuncheon Branch conducted this meaningful campaign.

▎ Learning Water Conservation Through Hands-on Activities!

The campaign featured a variety of interactive booths where citizens could participate and learn about water conservation.

ㆍ Water Usage Experience Booth – Visitors compared washing hands with running water versus using a basin, demonstrating simple ways to save water in daily life.

ㆍ EM Fermented Liquid Making Booth – Citizens learned how to make an environmentally friendly cleaning agent using rice water, which is often discarded! This was a highlight of the event, receiving enthusiastic responses.

ㆍ Water Conservation Pledge Sticker Booth – Participants pledged their own water-saving habits and received a fun refrigerator magnet as a souvenir!

The public response was overwhelmingly positive!

“I had no idea South Korea was a water-scarce country. This made me realize how serious the issue is. My family and I will be more mindful about saving water!” – Jo In-su (Chuncheon, Onui-dong)

▎ Doing Environmental Cleanup Activities

The campaign also included a cleanup activity around the Seoksa Stream, where over 50 volunteers participated in removing litter and abandoned waste. This hands-on experience reinforced the importance of keeping our water sources clean.

An 80-year-old citizen who joined the cleanup shared his thoughts, saying "Clean water is essential for the health of future generations.”

▎ Small Actions Lead to Big Changes

Through this campaign, the Shincheonji Volunteer Chuncheon Branch successfully raised awareness about the severity of water scarcity and encouraged people to take real action.

Kim Dong-woo, the branch deputy director said “I hope this campaign helps people realize the importance of water and motivates them to practice conservation in their daily lives. We will continue to lead environmental protection efforts.”

👉 Water conservation starts with small daily habits!

👉 Use a cup when brushing your teeth

👉 Reduce shower time

The campaign was a warm and inspiring event shared with Chuncheon citizens. Hopefully, more people will take an interest in environmental protection and practice water conservation in their everyday lives. Let’s all make a difference with small actions!

▎ Shincheonji Church: “A year to realize the meaning of ‘Love and Blessings’”

Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Chairman Man Hee Lee, hereinafter Shincheonji Church), held its 41st anniversary service on the 14th at Shincheonji Cheongju Church. The event served as an opportunity to reflect on the church’s progress since its founding in 1984, share its achievements, and outline its future vision.

Approximately 5,000 people gathered at the Cheongju Church to celebrate the anniversary, while those unable to attend in person joined the event via live broadcast at every Shincheonji churche both domestically and internationally.

The anniversary service included ▲ an introduction to the 41st anniversary, ▲ a special video presentation, and ▲ a historical report on Shincheonji Church.

During his address, Chairman Man Hee Lee urged believers to deepen their faith and spiritual growth in accordance with the Bible. Chairman Lee stated, “God wants us to be perfectly created through His Word. Each of us must become one with this Word. We must also realize the realities which are fulfilled according to the book of Revelation. Only then can both our desires and God’s will be fulfilled.”

Chairman Lee also said, “I have repeatedly proposed a test before all believers to determine who speaks the truth and who does not, based on the Bible. Both Shincheonji Church and Protestantism practice the faith based on the same Bible. Instead of persecuting each other or engaging in unnecessary debates over heresy, let us make judgments based on the Scriptures.”

Chairman Lee continued, “What is beyond human ability should be entrusted to God, but what is within human capability must be done by us. Do not criticize others; instead, strive first to achieve perfection like God. Furthermore, let us practice our faith with a sense of mission to help others so that they may become like us. Let us become true believers of Shincheonji Church who are recognized by God.”

According to the historical report presented earlier, Shincheonji Church has shown exceptional growth even in a globally declining atmosphere of Christianity, regardless of denomination or sect. Through the Zion Christian Mission Center, the church produced 103,764 graduates in the class 110 graduation ceremony in 2019. In 2022 and 2023, the church produced 106,186 and 108,084 graduates, respectively. In 2024, the number of graduates reached an unprecedented 111,628, setting a new record.

The number of MOU for biblical exchange and MOA for church name changes is also steadily increasing. As of late February, Shincheonji Church had signed biblical exchange MOUs with 819 churches in Korea and 13,835 churches in 88 countries, committing to follow-up education. Additionally, 87 churches in Korea and 1,552 churches in 45 countries have changed their church names to Shincheonji Church.

Choi Yong-soo (49, alias, male, Buk-gu, Gwangju), a believer of 28 years, recalled, “I first joined Shincheonji Church during my university years after hearing the Word. Back then, our church was a small 30-pyeong (approximately 99 square meters) worship hall in Jungheung-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, where about 1,000 believers gathered for worship.”

He added, “Seeing the remarkable growth of Shincheonji Church, I feel that the words of God, ‘Your beginning will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be’ are being fulfilled. I will continue to strive to be a true believer who believes in and follows the words of God and Jesus.”

Furthermore, Shincheonji Church continues to contribute to society through blood donation campaigns and plasma donation initiatives, practicing love for life. Notably, in 2022, the church set a Guinness World Record when 71,121 people applied for blood donation online within 24 hours.

The saint, Song Soo-kyung (31, female, Sinbaek-dong, Jecheon City), expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am truly happy and thankful to be part of Shincheonji Church’s 41st anniversary. I sincerely appreciate Chairman Man Hee Lee and all the senior saints who have dedicated themselves to spreading the Word over the past 41 years. I will continue to spread God’s love and practice my faith.”

Shincheonji Church stated, “We give all glory to God for allowing us to achieve remarkable growth, domestic and international accomplishments, and meaningful contributions to society over the past year. Moving forward, we will fully embody the meaning of our slogan, ‘A Year of Love and Blessings,’ and continue to spread the light of the Word of Revelation to the world.”

Notably, attendees made efforts to minimize the use of private vehicles and actively utilized public transportation to avoid traffic congestion. A church official remarked, “We conducted thorough simulations with transportation safety volunteers to prevent accidents or excessive congestion. We sincerely appreciate the cooperation of all attendees.”

[Shincheonji Volunteer] A Warm Helping Hand for Marginalized Neighbors: The 'Shoulder-to-Shoulder' Project by the Shincheonji Volunteer, Seoul Eastern Branch

A Warm Helping Hand for Marginalized Neighbors: The 'Shoulder-to-Shoulder' Project by the Shincheonji Volunteer, Seoul Eastern Branch

During the cold winter months, many of our neighbors are in dire need of warmth. Elderly individuals living in aging homes often struggle with electrical issues and heating shortages, making the season even more challenging. To alleviate these difficulties, the Shincheonji Volunteer, Seoul Eastern Branch (Director: Shin Kyu-Soo), has stepped in with a heartwarming act of kindness.

▎ Delivering Warmth Through Briquettes and Heating Oil

On the 22nd, the Shincheonji Volunteer, Seoul Eastern Branch, visited ‘House of Peace’ in Nowon-gu, Seoul, to carry out a briquette-sharing volunteer service for underprivileged communities. This initiative was part of the ‘Shoulder-to-Shoulder’ project, which aims to bring warmth and comfort to marginalized individuals in the local community.

The ‘Shoulder-to-Shoulder’ project symbolizes standing side by side, emphasizing continuous, regular volunteer work to support those in need. On this day, the volunteer provided 150 briquettes and 120 liters of heating oil to elderly residents in Nowon-gu, helping them stay warm through the remaining winter months.

A representative from ‘House of Peace’ expressed gratitude, saying, “Our home is old, and we were worried because the lights were out and the electricity was unstable. They not only repaired the doors but also replaced the lights, brightening up the house. This winter, we were anxious because we had run out of briquettes, but thanks to this generous donation, we are truly grateful.”

▎ Enhancing Happiness Through Hairdressing Services

Beyond material assistance, the Seoul Eastern Branch is also dedicated to maintaining the well-being and self-esteem of elderly individuals. On the 25th, they offered hairdressing services to seniors, ensuring they felt refreshed and valued.

One elderly recipient said, “Having my hair neatly trimmed makes me feel great and lighter. I hope you’ll come again next month,” expressing deep satisfaction. This was more than just a simple haircut—it was a time filled with warmth and sincerity.

▎ Volunteers Practicing the Cycle of Giving

This particular briquette-sharing event was even more meaningful as past beneficiaries paid it forward by passing on briquettes to others in need. This created a beautiful cycle of giving, fostering a compassionate and supportive community.

One volunteer shared their heartfelt experience, saying, “As I was stacking briquettes in the seniors’ storage areas, I couldn’t help but think of my mother, and I felt emotional. I sincerely hope they stay warm for the rest of the winter.”

A representative from the Seoul Eastern Branch stated, “Through consistent acts of giving and volunteer work, we aspire to be a strong companion to the local community. We will continue to extend our helping hands to those in need and bring hope wherever it is needed.”

▎ Building a Warmer World Together

Even the smallest acts of kindness can create a great source of warmth. Just like the ‘Shoulder-to-Shoulder’ project by the Shincheonji Volunteer, Seoul Eastern Branch, sharing love and care with marginalized neighbors is not as difficult as it may seem.

Although spring is approaching, there will still be chilly days ahead. How about taking a moment to look around and extend a small gesture of kindness to those who may need it?
