  • Contributing revitalizing the local economy & promoting all consumption activity in local area such as transportation and accommodation

The Zion Christian Mission Center (Head director Tan Young Jin) produced 100,000 graduates, which is world's largest as a Christian educational institution.

The Zion Christian Mission Center, a bible education institution of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, will hold the 113th Zion Christian Mission Center graduation ceremony at Daegu Stadium on the 20th. A total of 106,186 which is world's largest scale graduates graduated on this day, as a theological institution.

On this day, for safety, the number of people participating in the graduation ceremony in Korea is limited to 80,000, and over 300,000 people participate in the graduation ceremony online and offline, streaming on YouTube and broadcasting worldwide in 9 languages.

The graduation ceremony on this day was prepared in preparation for safety accidents as there is a high concern about safety issues recently. The Shincheonji Church of Jesus said, "Above all, in order to hold the graduation ceremony safely, we prepared this event considering safety as the top priority. We operate a control room checking quarantine, safety, transportation and maintenance of order with the police, fire department, Daegu City and Suseong-gu Office officials establishing a cooperative network to prepare for safety accidents with local governments."

In addition, he continued that “The church itself deployed a total of 14,000 security personnel to maintain order inside and outside the venue. And had them enter and exit over 4 hours to prevent crowds of people. About 180 medical staff and four ambulances are also on standby in case of an accident. Emergency rescue training was conducted for all safety personnel. And all trainees watched the emergency rescue video. It is emphasized that this graduation ceremony was especially safety oriented.”

The event consists of an opening ceremony in part 1 and a closing ceremony in part 2. Part 1 begins with a praise service, followed by a congratulatory message, a prayer, and a commemorative speech by Chairman Man Hee Lee. Part 2 includes a graduation video broadcasted from overseas, followed by a congratulatory performance, congratulatory speech by Tan Young Jin, head director of the Zion Christian Mission Center, awarding certificates, moving tassel, awarding certificates and announcements of graduation speeches, and special performances.

Among the graduates of the 113th class, a total of 522 pastors including 37 domestic and 485 overseas graduated which is a significant increase compared to other years. In this background, it is closely related to the creation of an online class environment due to COVID-19. With the creation of an environment where people can take classes without being conscious of others, the number of pastors and seminary students increased rapidly. The two representatives of the graduates presenting their letter of appreciation of graduation on this day were also pastors.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, as elementary and intermediate courses, including the Book of Revelation (advanced course), were released on YouTube, pastors who were able to participate in online classes without being conscious of others. And it is the background of the increase in number of pastors.

In fact, Mr. Heo Jeong-wook, who presented his speech at the graduation ceremony as a representative of Korean graduates, is an incumbent pastor who has been pastor for two generations. After 20 years of ministry, he said, “I only learned traditional theology at seminary, but I didn’t know much about the Book of Revelation. I have been teaching only the words that are easy to convey to the saints, excluding difficult words. I repent that I was a sinner who added to or subtracted from the word of God. I put down everything I had and came forward to the truth. I learned the real theology that leads to heaven, not human studies and completed my course. I thank God for giving me a chance of life.”

Mr. D. Jackson, the representative of overseas graduates, is also a pastor in India. After taking an online Bible class of Shincheonji Church of Jesus in October last year, he signed an MOU and changed the name of the seminary he was operating to 'Hepto Zion Christian Mission Center'. Currently, 294 members, including pastors in charge of two churches belonging to the denomination, have completed all courses at the Zion Christian Mission Center and are listed as the 113th graduates.

Meanwhile, Shincheonji Church of Jesus held its first large-scale face-to-face event in Daegu after the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on contributing to the revitalization of the local economy and coexisting with local residents. All possible consumption activities, such as transportation, accommodation, and meals for 100,000 people, were made in the region to help local residents.

In addition, after the Itaewon disaster, the event itself was considered, but rather than abandoning the win-win opportunity in consideration of the contract situation with local companies, the event was proceeded focusing on safety as much as possible based on the know-how of hosting large-scale domestic and international events.

  1. A beautiful and hopeful post. 106,186 graduates have now mastered the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation in 2022 and is 2,422 people more than the 103,764 graduates of 2019. Surely it’s only by God’s power that this can be possible.
