Blood Shortage in Summer: Shincheonji Church Steps In
Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Chairman Lee Man-hee), will conduct a nationwide blood donation campaign from July 27 to October 18 for 84 days.
The campaign is organized to stabilize blood supply during the summer break, vacation season, and Chuseok holiday, when blood donations typically decline sharply.
The campaign designates July 27 to September 18 as the "Summer Intensive Period" and September 21 to October 18 as the "Chuseok Holiday Period," with focused blood donation efforts across the country.
The goal of this campaign is to recruit 10,000 voluntary participants from Shincheonji members across the nation.
A representative from the Korean Red Cross stated, “Group blood donations from schools decrease during summer, and holidays make blood supply especially challenging. This campaign is expected to be a great help.”
Shincheonji’s blood donation efforts are not a one-time event, but a long-standing, nationwide life-sharing movement that has continued for over a decade.
In the past four years alone, around 190,000 church members have donated blood, and the cumulative value of their donation certificates exceeded 1 billion KRW.
This scale of participation is considered the largest among religious organizations in Korea and has made a tangible impact in saving countless lives.
In recognition of this effort, Chairman Man Hee Lee received an honorary award from the Korean Red Cross at the “2025 Blood Donor Day” ceremony on June 13.
This award acknowledges not only participation but also the church’s long-term contribution to promoting blood donation culture and securing a stable blood supply.
A Shincheonji representative stated, “As one donation can save three lives, our church's collective efforts have given hope to many. We will continue to lead the way in sharing life through blood donation.”
