Reminds Citizens of Peace Through Korean War Photo Exhibition

On July 5th, the Guri-Namyangju branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group held a photo exhibition titled “We Will Not Forget You” at the Han River Citizen Park in Sampae-dong, Namyangju. Commemorating Korea’s Month of Patriots and Veterans, the event aimed to honor the sacrifices of war veterans and to remind citizens of the value of peace.

Photos from the Korean War were displayed along the walking trail, prompting many park visitors to stop and quietly reflect. Images of devastated villages, refugees, and soldiers in trenches vividly portrayed the harrowing realities of war more than 70 years ago.

Visitors of all ages, from families to seniors and young adults, attended the exhibition. Interactive booths were set up, offering activities such as making hibiscus-themed fans, writing thank-you letters to veterans, and answering Korean War trivia questions—all of which received enthusiastic participation.

A visitor from Seongbuk-gu, Ms. Jung (alias, 60s), shared, “I’m not from the generation that experienced the war, but this exhibition helped me feel the pain and sacrifice. Remembering them is the least we can do.”

Younger attendees in their 20s and 30s also expressed gratitude. “This exhibition reminded us to be thankful to veterans,” one said, adding, “The nation needs to show more attention to their service.”

Chae So-hyun, a volunteer serving as a docent, remarked, “It felt heavy to be the one sharing these stories, but it was deeply rewarding. I hope this exhibition becomes a moment for people to reflect on the importance of peace.”

The Guri-Namyangju branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group plans to continue promoting historical awareness and preserving the value of peace through ongoing community efforts.
