Shincheonji Volunteer Group Wonju Branch Carries Out
Hand Casting Volunteer Service

On August 16, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Wonju Branch carried out a meaningful volunteer activity with the Association of Korean War Veterans’ Families in Hoengseong County. The event involved a “hand casting” activity, where the hands of elderly participants were molded in plaster and preserved as works of art. This effort was not merely an artistic project, but a heartfelt gesture to honor the sacrifices of war and life, while expressing deep gratitude.

The elderly participants painted their plaster hands, creating unique and one-of-a-kind pieces of art. During this process, they shared personal memories and stories, making the occasion even more meaningful. Park Sang-ho, Secretary General of the Korean War Veterans Association Hoengseong Branch, said, “It was a special time to express gratitude and love to the very hands that defended our nation during the war.”

A representative of the Wonju Branch stated, “The hands of our elders carry a history of sacrifice and devotion. We hope that these works will serve as precious records to convey their meaning to future generations.” The hand casting was not just a physical mold, but a symbol that preserved the weight of time and history.

In addition to the hand casting event, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Wonju Branch has actively engaged in various community services. Their activities include environmental clean-up, flood recovery support, and distributing cold bottled water to citizens during extreme heat waves. On traditional “Boknal” summer days, they also share Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) with veterans’ organizations, practicing true neighborly love.
