Shincheonji Volunteer Group Uijeongbu Branch Delivers Samgyetang to Elderly Single-Person Households
On the 23rd, the Uijeongbu branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group visited nine elderly single-person households in Ganeung-dong and Oemi Village, delivering carefully prepared samgyetang (Korean ginseng chicken soup).
Six volunteers participated in the effort that day. They started early in the morning, preparing ingredients, cooking the samgyetang themselves, and delivering it along with handwritten letters to each home.
One volunteer shared, “Although it was hot, I felt happy thinking that this could give someone the strength to endure the summer.”
During the visit, a beehive was also discovered inside the roof of one house. The volunteers quickly reported it to 119, and the fire department came to safely remove it.
A resident in their 70s expressed gratitude, saying, “In the summer, I usually lose my appetite and energy, but receiving this heartfelt meal warmed not only my body but also my heart.”
A representative of the Uijeongbu branch said, “We hoped that this meal would serve not just as food, but as an emotional bridge connecting people. We will continue to extend our helping hands to those in need in the community.”
