Suspicion entering shutdown land, Shincheonji members innocent ...
Court says 'Closing itself is illegitimacy

The Gyeonggi provincial government has closed the land of the museum of Shincheonji Church. After that, Shincheonji members who entered the museum land without permission were indicted and acquitted by the court.

Charges of violating administrative measures toward Shincheonji, including Chairman Man Hee Lee and Shincheonji Daegu Church, have been found innocent. It seems that administrative measures imposed on Shincheonji at the time were excessive.

According to Shincheonji, the Suwon District Court acquitted three Shincheonji members who were on trial for violating Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.

The court pointed out that the measures themselves must be legit to punish them for violating Infectious Disease Prevention Act and the measure of the governor of Gyeonggi Province which is temporary shutdown to Shincheonji Church Museum land was not legal.

The court stressed that 'this measure of shutdown has a character of Constitutive requirements punishable criminal law about a character and violation of administrative act of interests Infringement. So, based on the administrative regulations, it shall be interpreted and applied strictly.

The court also said that 'In the Disposition of the measure of shutdown by Gyeonggi-do Province, it only states that urgent quarantine and prevention are needed. There was no description or evidence which can recognize the contamination of the land caused by infectious Shincheonji members' visit at Shincheonji museum land.

Earlier in January this year, the Suwon District Court found chairman Man Hee Lee of Shincheonji not guilty of the same charges. At the time, the court pointed out that under the relevant law the targets of the shutdown were 'places with infected patient' or 'places contaminated with infectious disease pathogens'. But, in this case, there is no evidence that this case does not correspond to.

In this regard, the official of Shincheonji said "Last year, right before the pandemic of COVID-19, the government encouraged daily life. It was fact that the prediction of situation was not easy. Shincheonji church also lacked some parts of what was first experienced. But, even though there was no intention related to the pandemic of COVID-19, there has been excessive sanitation by some local authorities and politicians.'.

In addition, the official said "In the future, we should do our best to take objective measures for quarantine before arguing anyone's fault."
