[1] The way of religion (God’s teaching) 

1) Religion [宗 (/jong/, “highest”), 敎 (/gyo/, “teaching”): highest teaching

‣ 宗 (/jong/, “highest”): 宀 (no phonetic value, “heaven”) + 示 (/shi/, “to show”)

∴ To show heaven ⇒ religion

 

2) The owner of religion (the leader of religion): God

‣ The way of religion (天道) ⇒ the way to find God

▌ What is the way to seek God who is spirit? ◾ Jn 1:1 the word (道) = God To act according to the word = to act according to the will of God ∴ the way of true believers (道) = to carry out deeds according to the word.

[2] The elementary teaching and the perfect teaching

[3] The world, the kingdom of heaven, and hell

◾ Heaven on earth: true pastor and his organization that are born of God’s seed (the truth). ◾ Reality of heaven at the First Coming: Jesus and his disciples.

◾ Hell on earth: false pastor and his organization that are born of the devil’s seed (false teachings) ◾ Reality of hell at the First Coming: Pharisees, teachers of the law, and the Jews.

▌How to distinguish between spirits: written in the Bible - Those who know about the Bible ⇒ can distinguish between spirits ⇒ walk on the path of true religion - Those who don’t know about the Bible ⇒ can’t distinguish between spirits ⇒ can’t walk on the path of true religion.

[4] Three kinds of pastors and teachings

 

◾ God’s pastor - prophetic pastor

   - promised pastor

   - general pastor

◾ False pastor

1) Three kinds of pastors belonging to God and their teachings

(1) Prophetic pastor (prophet)

◾ Chosen to testify about future events before they happen

e.g. Isiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel.

 

(2) Promised pastor (messenger)

◾ Comes according to the prophecies of the Bible, fulfills all of the prophecies, and testifies to the fulfillment

◾ Chosen by God when one era ends and a new era begins

e.g. Jesus.

(3) General pastor (gospel preacher)

◾ Testifies to Jesus Christ who fulfilled the Old Testament

◾ They are not chosen by God (except for Apostle Paul and the twelve disciples)

▌ The most important pastor when prophecies are fulfilled ⇒ promised pastor (Reason: one can be forgiven and saved by believing in the revealed word testified by the promised pastor)

[5] A covenant and a new covenant

 

1) Covenant

Ex 19:5-6

‣ Key contents of the covenant: Ten Commandments, the law, and the word of prophecy spoken through prophets.

‣ Outcome of the covenant: could not be kept.

 

2) New Covenant

Jer 31:31-32 prophesied that a new covenant would be made

Heb 8:7 first covenant (OT) fault ⇒ second covenant (NT) established

Lk 22:14-20

‣ Spiritual Israel: Jn 1:11-13 those who are born spiritually

Jn 6 whoever eats the flesh and blood of Jesus ⇒ eternal life = word, wine (Jn 15:1)

▌ Because Jesus was taken up to heaven, believers could no longer eat his word. When, where, and with what can we eat it again? ◾ Mt 26:26-29 drink of the fruit of the vine... new with you in My Father’s kingdom ◾ Lk 22:14-20 wine that we drink again when God’s kingdom comes ‣ The wine of Jesus at the First Coming: the revealed word regarding the fulfillment of the Old Testament ‣ The new wine of Jesus that we drink at the Second Coming: the revealed word regarding the fulfillment of the New Testament

At the Second Coming, when the prophecies of the New Testament are fulfilled, we can keep the new covenant by hearing and believing in the revealed word regarding the fulfillment of the New Testament, and we can become a new creation.

 

[6] New creation born again

Ps 82:6-7 two kinds of people: sons of the Most High (gods) and mere men

‣ In this world, there are two kinds of people – the children of God, the Most High, who live forever and mere men who are doomed to die.

Gn 6:1-3

1) How can one be born again? Through God’s word and spirit

Jn 3:5 born of water and the spirit = born through God’s word and spirit

‣ Dt 32:2 water (rain, dew) = God’s word

1 Pet 1:23 born through the living and enduring word of God (Lk 8:11, word = seed).

 

2) If one is born again through God’s word? They become God’s offspring, God’s children

Jn 10:35 those who receive the word of God (seed) = gods

Acts 17:29 God’s offspring = God’s children born of God’s seed

3) From whom can we receive God’s seed, which allows us to be born again as God’s offspring? From the one whom God sends

Jn 3:34 the one God sent (promised pastor) ⇒ speaks God’s word (seed)

▌ The one God sent at the First Coming and the Second Coming First Coming Born again with the revealed word regarding the fulfillment of the Old Testament (seed) testified through Jesus whom God sent. Second Coming Born again with the revealed word regarding the fulfillment of the New Testament (seed) testified through the promised pastor who ate the scroll, the one whom God sent.

Those born again of God’s seed become God’s children Because God’s spirit is with them They become a new creation Who are born again of God’s seed and spirit.
