[Shincheonji] 100,000 Graduation Ceremony

On the 20th, Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji Church of Jesus), will hold a graduation ceremony attended by about 100,000 people in Daegu. The venue for the event is known that Daegu City has approved the rental in accordance with legal procedures. Some raised concerns about the gathering of a large number of people, but Shincheonji said they were fully prepared for a safe event.

According to Daegu City, the police and Shincheonji Church of Jesus on the 18th, the 113th graduation ceremony will be held in Daegu City from noon to 3:30 pm on the 20th with more than 100,000 Shincheonji Church of Jesus members attending.

Shincheonji Church of Jesus said that it is fully prepared for safety and quarantine, including the deployment of safety personnel at the venue where it was rented to hold the 113th graduation ceremony.

In particular, in order to minimize congestion on the day of the event, saints of the 12 tribes, who gather from all over the country using 2,500 45-seat buses will enter the venue by dividing them by time zone. 

According to Shincheonji Church of Jesus, graduation ceremonies have been held every year throughout the country since 1991. The graduation ceremony is an event to become an official Shincheonji member after completing a regular Bible study course of 6 to 8 months before entering the church.

In 2019, the 110th graduation ceremony, which produced 103,764 graduates, was held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, and then the 111th in 2020 and the 112th in 2021 were held online due to the Corona 19 incident. The 113th class graduation ceremony on the 20th is a large-scale offline event held again after 3 years.

However, a Daegu official said that South Korea has freedom of religion and the venue is rented through a legitimate process.

An official from Shincheonji Church of Jesus said, “We are fully prepared for safety and quarantine, such as the deployment of safety personnel.”
