On the morning of the 8th, Cheongju, Chungbuk Province, was buzzing. Approximately 80,000 people, about one-tenth of the city's population (850,000), gathered for Sunday service.

The massive crowd assembled at Shincheonji Jesus Church, Cheongju Church (hereafter referred to as Cheongju Church), which is under the Shincheonji Jesus Church’s Matthias tribe. News of Chairman Man Hee Lee’s visit drew not only Matthias tribe members from the Chungcheong area but also members from the John tribe in Seoul and southern Gyeonggi Province, as well as key figures from churches nationwide.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Cheongju Church’s establishment, adding to the significance of the event. Additionally, more than 100 Protestant pastors from across the country attended to hear the Chairman’s sermon.

From early in the day, numerous Shincheonji members lined up along the 4km stretch from Cheongju IC entrance to Cheongju Church to welcome the Chairman. The warm reception is attributed to his clear explanations of the Book of Revelation, which even pastors and theology experts find challenging, as well as the secrets of biblical history spanning 6,000 years.

The 100 pastors who visited Cheongju Church acknowledged this aspect, which is why they were present.

One member who traveled to the event said, “Despite a lifetime of faith, I had never heard such clear explanations of the prophecies and fulfillments in Revelation. I felt immense gratitude and wanted to express it by attending in person.”

Chairman Lee emphasized, “We should be grateful that God has revealed the word of Revelation, which no one understood for 6,000 years. This word is life. Our faith must perfectly align with it, which means becoming one with God.”

He continued, “We can present the reality of the Revelation’s prophecies, which sets us apart. However, we were once in the same position as those who did not know. Therefore, we must humble ourselves and explain what is right to help others understand.”

Since the founding of Shincheonji Church, Chairman Lee has consistently stressed the importance of the revelatory messages and Bible-centered faith. This year alone, including the visit to Cheongju Church, he has visited over 40 churches both domestically and internationally, focusing on delivering the revealed word based on the six fundamental questions (Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How).

As a result, many individuals who could not find answers to their spiritual thirst have been observed moving towards Shincheonji Church.

Mr. Lee, who has been a member of a Presbyterian church for over 30 years, shared, “I tried various churches, following sermons, early morning teachings, and cell meetings, but never found the clarity I was seeking. The Chairman’s two-hour lecture on Revelation during a large-scale Bible conference left me profoundly impacted.”

He added, “When I set aside my prejudices and focused on the word itself, I felt my longstanding questions were being answered one by one. Perhaps the reason so many people complete the course each year is that there are many others who share similar experiences.”

Such testimonies are supported by data. According to a survey conducted in September of last year by the Pastoral Data Research Institute, 65% of Protestant churchgoers in South Korea reported feeling a ‘spiritual thirst.’ Furthermore, over 55% of respondents expressed a desire for systematic biblical education from pastors, highlighting the current state of Bible education in domestic Protestant circles.

Additionally, the trend of de-religion among young people in their 20s and 30s continues to deepen, posing a significant concern for both domestic and international Protestant communities. In contrast, Shincheonji Church is seeing an increase in young members and more than 100,000 people completing their regular course annually. The church attributes this to its ‘Bible-centered faith’ and the ‘excellence of the revelatory teachings.’

A Shincheonji Church spokesperson explained, “The core of the Chairman’s teachings is that the prophecies of Revelation, once thought to be ancient stories, are actually being fulfilled and have the realities. Shincheonji Church provides irrefutable evidence and a systematic curriculum for education, gaining recognition from people of all ages and faith backgrounds. Since this knowledge originates from seeing and hearing the reality of the prophecies from a knowledgeable shepherd, we hope that everyone, regardless of faith, will directly verify and judge these facts with a mature attitude.”

  1. The detailed explanation of Revelation, which even pastors and theologians struggle with, is clearly bringing clarity to people's spiritual journeys.
