[Shincheonji Volunteer] ‘Daily Water Conservation Campaign’ with Chuncheon Citizens
On March 20th, in celebration of World Water Day, a special campaign was held in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. The ‘Protect the green nature’ Water Conservation Campaign, hosted by the Shincheonji Volunteer Chuncheon Branch, encouraged people to recognize the importance of water conservation and put it into action!
Chuncheon is a city blessed with beautiful lakes such as Uiamho, Soyangho, and Chuncheonho. However, South Korea is classified as a water-scarce country, making the conservation of water resources even more crucial. To raise awareness, the Shincheonji Volunteer Chuncheon Branch conducted this meaningful campaign.
▎ Learning Water Conservation Through Hands-on Activities!
The campaign featured a variety of interactive booths where citizens could participate and learn about water conservation.
ㆍ Water Usage Experience Booth – Visitors compared washing hands with running water versus using a basin, demonstrating simple ways to save water in daily life.
ㆍ EM Fermented Liquid Making Booth – Citizens learned how to make an environmentally friendly cleaning agent using rice water, which is often discarded! This was a highlight of the event, receiving enthusiastic responses.
ㆍ Water Conservation Pledge Sticker Booth – Participants pledged their own water-saving habits and received a fun refrigerator magnet as a souvenir!
The public response was overwhelmingly positive!
“I had no idea South Korea was a water-scarce country. This made me realize how serious the issue is. My family and I will be more mindful about saving water!” – Jo In-su (Chuncheon, Onui-dong)
▎ Doing Environmental Cleanup Activities
The campaign also included a cleanup activity around the Seoksa Stream, where over 50 volunteers participated in removing litter and abandoned waste. This hands-on experience reinforced the importance of keeping our water sources clean.
An 80-year-old citizen who joined the cleanup shared his thoughts, saying "Clean water is essential for the health of future generations.”
▎ Small Actions Lead to Big Changes
Through this campaign, the Shincheonji Volunteer Chuncheon Branch successfully raised awareness about the severity of water scarcity and encouraged people to take real action.
Kim Dong-woo, the branch deputy director said “I hope this campaign helps people realize the importance of water and motivates them to practice conservation in their daily lives. We will continue to lead environmental protection efforts.”
👉 Water conservation starts with small daily habits!
👉 Use a cup when brushing your teeth
👉 Reduce shower time
The campaign was a warm and inspiring event shared with Chuncheon citizens. Hopefully, more people will take an interest in environmental protection and practice water conservation in their everyday lives. Let’s all make a difference with small actions!
