[Shincheonji Volunteer] A Small but Strong Helping Hand:

The Warm Sharing of the Shincheonji Volunteer

On February 28, the Shincheonji Volunteer Gangdong Branch (led by Director Sang-hoon Lee) carried out a meaningful volunteer activity in collaboration with the Gangdong-gu Disabled Association. This initiative, called the 'Pinky Finger' Housing Environment Improvement Project, took place in Cheonho 2-dong, Gangdong-gu, and aimed to support a household where a resident had been admitted to a facility for alcohol addiction treatment.

The 'Pinky Finger' volunteer activity was launched with the goal of breaking down barriers between people with and without disabilities and fostering unity through love. Just as a pinky finger symbolizes trust in a promise, this initiative strives to bring about positive changes within the local community.

This particular volunteer activity was organized at the request of the Gangdong-gu Disabled Association. During the ‘Beautiful senior, Bravo life!’ at a hairdressing volunteer event on the 20th, Director Bang Sung-sook of the Gangdong-gu Disabled Association requested assistance from the Shincheonji Volunteer,, leading to an immediate collaboration.

The household in need had no legal guardian and had entered a facility for alcohol addiction treatment. In response, the Gangdong Branch and the Gangdong-gu Disabled Association joined forces to clean and organize the interior and exterior of the home, creating a clean living environment. A total of nine volunteers from the Gangdong Branch and six from the Gangdong-gu Disabled Association participated in cleaning both inside and outside the house and collecting trash.

A local resident passing by the volunteer site shared the joy and said, "I was worried because I hadn’t seen the person who used to be drunk and sleeping on the street. I’m relieved to hear they are receiving treatment. I’m truly grateful." Additionally, Kim Eun-ja, a volunteer from the Gangdong Branch, said, "We were energized by each other and laughed while cleaning. I feel ten years younger. This volunteer work is truly my calling."

A representative from the Gangdong Branch stated, "Nowadays, social isolation is increasing, and issues related to alcohol and drug addiction are on the rise. In this situation, it is rewarding to see how collaboration can bring about positive changes. We hope to continue creating a warm and caring community through ongoing efforts."

These small but meaningful gestures come together to build a warmer community. We look forward to the continued acts of love and service by the Shincheonji Volunteer.
