Shincheonji Volunteer Group Guri-Namyangju Branch Shares Ice Water and Cool Scarves in the Heatwave
Amid the relentless heatwave, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Guri-Namyangju Branch extended a warm touch of kindness to local residents. On the 18th, the group distributed 200 bottles of ice water and 100 cooling scarves near the Jangjamot water playground, offering refreshing relief to citizens weary from the scorching heat. This initiative was not only about providing items but also about delivering practical support to help people stay safe during the summer.
At the site, several interactive booths attracted visitors’ attention. Fun activities such as a water balloon basket toss and balloon-catching with butterfly nets were especially popular among children. In addition, climate insurance guides and quizzes provided citizens with useful knowledge about climate change and how to cope with extreme heat. Many participants said that the event offered not only entertainment but also practical insights for their daily lives.
The volunteer group’s efforts went beyond distributing ice water and scarves. They also informed citizens about how to prevent heat-related illnesses, the importance of climate insurance, and strategies for coping with heatwaves. Outdoor workers, such as parking attendants, were given ice water along with words of gratitude. This simple act of care provided significant comfort to those laboring under the scorching sun.
A representative from the Guri-Namyangju branch said, “Although it was just a small bottle of water and a short activity, we wanted to offer encouragement and a moment of rest to those weary from the heat. We will continue to share safety guidelines and information on coping with heatwaves throughout the summer.” Such consistent care and actions for the community have become a source of strength and encouragement for citizens.
