[1] The Author of the Bible

1) The author of the Bible

2 Tim 3:16 All scriptures → God-breathed
▶ God's will, thoughts, and plans are written in the Bible.

2 Pet 1:21
Prophecy → Not the will of man, spoken by men who were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

2) The reason God has given us the Bible

1 Jn 4:1 Test → Spirits

3) Two realms in the spiritual world and the physical world

▶ The reason God's world was divided into two : The appearance of Satan, the angel who sinned

▶ The reason God gave us the Bible : Make known the true God and the devil who betrayed God.

1) The Holy Bible : A book complied of the Holy Word of God

◾ The Old Testament : 39 books
◾ The New Testament : 27 books

2) Old Testament and New Testament

- Old Testament : old covenant (Scriptures that the prophets recorded before Jesus' coming)
- New Testament: new covenant (Scriptures recorded by the disciples after Jesus' coming)

3) The Bible is a covenant

◾ Subject of the Covenant
- Old Testament : Ex 19:5-6 Jews (physical Israel)
- New Testament : Lk 22:14-20 Christians (spiritual Israel)

◾ Contents of the Covenant
- Old Testament : Jn 5:39 Jesus in the first coming
- New Testament : Jn 14:1-3 Jesus in the second coming

◾ Outcome of the Covenant
- Old Testament : Heb 8:7 Covenant was broken
- New Testament : Rv 22:7 Covenant must be kept

[3] Content Categorization of the Bible

1) History : 1 Cor 10:11
It is written examples and warnings to believers on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come

2) Teaching : 2 Tim 3:16-17
It is written so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped.

3) Prophecy : Jn 14:29
It is written for them to believe when it happens (fulfillment)

4) Fulfillment : fulfilled according to prophecy
▶ Fulfillment : realization of what was promised. It testifies to one's faith. 
◾ The Old Testament → Fulfilled when Jesus first came (Jn 19:30 "It is finished")
◾ The New Testament → Fulfilled when Jesus comes again (Rv 21:6 "It is done!")

[4] How the Prophecies where Written

Prophecies are future events yet to be fulfilled with no fulfilled realities at the time when they were written; therefore, they were written in parables with historical events, geographical backgrounds, and names of people and places.

1) Parables of historical events
Lk 17 The end of the age : the days of Noah, the days of Lot.

2) Parables of people's names
Rv 2 Destroyer : Balaam, Balak, Jezebel

3) Parables of place names
Rv 11:8 Great city : compared to Sodom, Egypt, Golgotha.
