Q) What is the meaning of Je 1:9-10?

A) God appoints a pastor over nations and kingdoms, and gives him His words so that he can uproot and destroy the old things and build and plant the new things : this is about being reborn.

[1] Reasons We Need to be Reborn

Jn 3:5-6

Jesus → Nicodemus not born of water and the spirit → cannot enter God’s kingdom what is born of the flesh : flesh, what is born of the spirit : spirit.

▮ Nicodemus had already believed in God and was a teacher of the Jews, but why did Jesus tell him to be born again? ① because he was not born of water and the spirit, ② because unless he is born of water and the spirit, the devil’s seed and the evil spirits are still in his heart, making it impossible for him to enter heaven.

you are not reborn just by believing in God and Jesus, you must be born again in the way that Jesus acknowledges in order to enter heaven.

▮ What does it mean to be reborn of water and the spirit? ⊙ water (=seed) : word of life that washes away sins and impurities ⊙ spirit : spirits that belong to God, including God himself ▮ Reason why believers should be reborn Because we can enter into heaven if we plant the seed of God’s word in our hearts and if our souls are born again by the spirit, which stays with the word and rules over our minds and hearts.

1 Pet 1:23

reborn : of the imperishable seed, the living and enduring word of God.

[2] Process of Growth of Being Reborn

To be reborn is to be born again spiritually ; thsu, it requires a process of growth, which involves various growing pains.

1) What is the seed of the word that is sown for us to be reborn?

Lk 8:11-15

seed = word of heaven (Mt 13:19, word of revelation)

▶ It is when hearing the “word of revelation, the fulfillment of prophecies (word of heaven)” that people can be categorized into 4 kinds of fields, and not through history, moral instructions, or prophecies; it is by this seed of the word of heaven that people are born again.

◼ Path : those who do not understand even after hearing the word of heaven. ◼ Rocky field : those who betray the Lord when persecution or trial comes ◼ Thorny field : those who cannot grow because of the worries of the world or circumstances. ◼ Good soil : those with a good and noble heart, who hear the word, retain it, and persevere to produce a crop → born again, heaven.

2) What kind of faith is needed to be reborn?

Faith to be revealed

	Law of Moses	Faith to be revealed
Gal 3:23-25	(until the prophecy of the Old Testament is fulfilled) faith in the Law of Moses elementary teacher	(when the prophecy of the Old Testament is fulfilled) faith in prophecy and the physical fulfillment that appears according to prophecy Christ
Gal 4:1-7	at immature state, a believer is enslaved under elementary teachings	when the time comes, one becomes God’s child and heir

3) How can we be reborn at the time of the New Testament?

∴ at the time of Revelation’s fulfillment, one can be born again and can become God’s child and heir by having faith that is to be revealed in the New Testament.

4) Who are the children of God, who become heirs by being born again in the last days, and how do they appear?

Children of God’s kingdom

Mt 13:3-39

Jesus : parable of the weeds in the field two kinds of seeds were sown in one field

- physical fulfillment of the good seed : children of God’s kingdom

- physical fulfillment of the weeds : children of the evil one

◼ Physical fulfillment of the children of God’s kingdom (children of God’s kingdom and heirs) - those who acknowledge the word are harvested and brought to heaven’s barn - first fruits, born through the word of truth (Jas 1:18) - believers who are harvested and reborn ◼ Physical fulfillment of the children of the evil one - those who only listen to their own pastors and stay in the field without being harvested (▶ to remain in the field is to show that one is a weed) - those who label people, who are harvested, as a heretic and persecute them

[3] Faith That Perseveres

Heb 10:36	reason why we need perseverance to inherit God’s promised kingdom after fulfilling His will.
Rom 8:17-18	to share in the glory of Christ we should share in his sufferings, present sufferings are not worth comparing to the glory that is to come.

▣ Summary of Key Points ◼ If they are believers who hope in heaven, they must be reborn. When one tries to be reborn, there is a process of growth through persecutions, tests, and difficulties. At such times, two things that a believer should look to are first, not (man), but the (word), second, not the (present), bur (hope). ◼ A believer’s process of growth of being reborn - what believers should uproot and destroy : the devil’s weeds and the devil’s house in a person’s heart - what believers should plant and build : the good seed, which is God’s word of truth and God’s house
