Shincheonji Volunteer Group Jinju Branch Conducts Wildfire Prevention Campaign
On the 13th, the Jinju Branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group (Branch Director Kim Hyun-gi) carried out a forest fire prevention campaign as part of the “Protect the Green Nature” initiative. The campaign was organized to raise awareness about the dangers of forest fires and the importance of prevention, with 16 dedicated volunteers taking part.
With promotional materials supported by Jinju City Hall, volunteers conducted the campaign at the entrances of Seonhak and Bibongsan Mountains, sharing fire prevention guidelines, hosting a photo exhibition, and offering drinks to visitors. The photo exhibition displayed real cases of damage caused by forest fires, allowing citizens to visually grasp how a single spark can lead to devastating consequences. During the campaign, volunteers actively explained forest fire prevention rules to hikers, emphasizing that small actions and awareness can make a big difference in protecting nature.
One hiker shared, “I was reminded that forest fires can start from very small careless actions. Since it takes such a long time for nature to recover, prevention is truly essential.”
A volunteer who took part in the campaign shared, “In the past, I had often walked past discarded cigarette butts or lighters while hiking without giving them much thought. Through this activity, I realized that small actions can be the first step in preventing wildfires.”
An official from the volunteer group stated, “Wildfires can cause severe damage to lives, nature, and property, yet many of them are preventable through public awareness and participation. We will continue to make consistent efforts to prevent wildfires and protect the environment.”
Meanwhile, the Jinju Branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group continues to carry out a variety of environmental conservation activities, including the monthly ‘Protect the Green Nature’ campaign.
