Shincheonji Church of Jesus John Tribe Successfully Hosts
Community Cultural Event, Recording a 94.8% Satisfaction Rate

The John Tribe of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (hereafter, the John Tribe), has been making continuous efforts to communicate with local residents in a variety of ways. As part of these efforts, the Seongnam Church of the John Tribe recently hosted an Open Festa, a cultural event centered on communication and community engagement for local residents. According to a survey conducted among attendees, approximately 94.8% of respondents said they were satisfied with the event, demonstrating the overwhelmingly positive response and high level of satisfaction it received.

Approximately 700 local residents attended the event, where a wide variety of programs were offered, including cultural performances, hands-on experience booths, exhibition spaces, and a talk concert. Rather than being a simple event for spectators, it was designed to encourage visitors to actively participate, experience the activities firsthand, and engage in open conversations, making the event even more meaningful and memorable.

The interactive booths featured a variety of activities that visitors could enjoy together, including the Activity Challenge, where participants completed missions as a team; Personal Color Matching, which helped visitors discover the colors that suited them best; and Calligraphy, where encouraging and heartwarming messages were beautifully written. These hands-on experiences were especially meaningful because they created an environment where anyone could participate comfortably, regardless of their religious background.

A promotional exhibition was also set up at the venue, introducing the history and faith of Shincheonji Church of Jesus. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the church's journey, its system of faith, and its vision for missionary work through easy-to-understand displays, allowing them to find answers to questions they may have had. In addition, traditional Korean samulnori performances and live musical performances added energy and excitement to the event, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere.

One of the most popular programs was the Talk Concert, where visitors had the opportunity to freely ask questions they had long been curious about, and representatives of the John Tribe responded directly through an open Q&A session. The program encouraged honest conversations and created a meaningful opportunity for participants to listen to one another and gain a better understanding of each other's perspectives. During the Talk Concert, the John Tribe representatives answered a wide range of questions candidly, including social concerns about Shincheonji Church of Jesus as well as questions about the fundamentals of its faith. Their open and straightforward responses helped foster a relaxed atmosphere of sincere communication with the audience.

The post-event survey also revealed overwhelmingly positive feedback. The vast majority of participants expressed satisfaction with the event, and 94.8% reported that they were satisfied overall. In addition, 91.0% of respondents said that the event had helped reduce the misunderstandings or prejudices they had previously held about Shincheonji Church of Jesus.

This style of open communication also appeared to have a positive impact on how local residents viewed the church. According to the survey, approximately 91.0% of participants said that the event helped clear up the misunderstandings or prejudices they had previously held about Shincheonji Church of Jesus. Many respondents also shared that participating in the event gave them a more positive interest in the church's role in the community and its faith.

One participant shared the following after attending the event: "After taking part in the event, my perspective on Shincheonji Church of Jesus changed significantly because everything was explained in a way that was easy to understand. I had expected a religious event to feel formal and intimidating, but instead, the atmosphere was relaxed, welcoming, and enjoyable. If another event like this is held in the future, I would definitely like to attend again with my family and friends."

A representative of the John Tribe said, "We organized this event to create an opportunity to connect with local residents through cultural programs. We believe that the interactive communication offered through programs such as the Talk Concert was one of the key factors behind the event's high level of satisfaction. Based on the valuable feedback we received from participants through the survey, we plan to continue providing a variety of opportunities to communicate with and contribute to the local community in the future."

These days, misunderstandings often arise simply because people do not have enough opportunities to truly get to know one another. Events like this, which encourage open dialogue and mutual understanding between local residents, have the potential to help build a warmer and more connected community. I hope that more cultural programs and opportunities for open communication like this will continue in the future, providing meaningful occasions for both residents and the local community to grow together. This event served as a reminder that the first step toward understanding one another is simply taking the time to meet, talk, and listen.
