[1] The Likened Vessel (spiritual vessel): the Heart of a person

⏵ Physical property: an instrument that contains

⏵ Types of vessels in the Bible: bowls, pecks, quarts, jars, wineskins, cups, etc.

Is 64:8 the potter: clay ⇒ vessels

Rom 9:21-24 vessels = us (those who are called and chosen, missionaries)

Acts 9:15

⏵ The mission of Apostle Paul (vessel) to bear Jesus’ name and preach to the Gentiles

⏵ Phil 3 Apostle Paul the law (considered rubbish) → knowledge of knowing Christ Jesus (contents)

⏵ Gal 1:11-12 the knowledge that changed Paul → the revelation of Jesus Christ

∴ Spiritual (likened) vessel = the heart of a person

Paul, who heard the revelation of Jesus Christ, was transformed into a man of God, and used as a vessel of Jesus. In order to be transformed into God’s vessels, we too must listen to and understand the words of Revelation.

[2] The Vessel of God vs the Vessel of Satan

◾ The name of a vessel is determined by: the contents therein.

⏵ The heart of a person (vessel)

- contains God’s food (truth) → God’s vessel

- contains Satan’s food (lies) → Satan’s vessel

1) Satan’s vessels and their consequences at Jesus’ first coming

- vessels full of dregs: Pharisees, scribes

- the one who tips vessels: Jesus came and fulfilled the prophecy about shattering the jars by judging them.

outward Jews (=Satan’s vessel) outside: believers inside: believers full of wrongdoings (lies, evil) inward Jews (=god’s vessel) outside: believers inside: believers full of God’s word (truth)

2) How to become God’s peasant vessel

2Tim 2:21 those who cleanse themselves → vessels for honor

▮ How to become God’s pleasant vessel

① to empty the vessel of my heart and pour out my wrongdoings (sins, lies)

② to cleanse yourself (vessel) with God’s word (=water) (Dt 32:2, Jn 15:3)

③ to be filled with God’s word (truth)

④ to be clean by doing according to the word of God (obeying) (1Pet 1:22)

[3] Vessels for the Heart of People: Church (or similar form of organization)

Mt 13:47-48 the kingdom of heaven: a dragnet cast into the sea to gather fish of every kind

- the good fish (the righteous) → gathered into baskets (=church)

- the bad (the wicked) → thrown away

⏵ at the end of the age: the angels comes forth and take out the wicked from among the righteous (Mt 13:49-50)

Hab 1:14 spiritual fish = men

∴ Vessels where spiritual fish are gathered are churches where the righteous belong

What am I containing as a vessel? We have to examine ourselves If we hold the truth, God’s word, and are created as God’s vessel, we must not be contaminated anymore (by self-centered thoughts, lies)
