Restoring the Family through the Power of the Word – The Miracle of Harmony Created by Faith

Restoring the Family through the Power of the Word –
The Miracle of Harmony Created by Faith

Modern society is changing rapidly. Did you know that in the midst of all this, the most precious unit—the family—is becoming increasingly neglected?

According to a 2023 survey by Ivenet and Incruit, a majority of respondents said they spend less than 30 minutes a day talking with their family, and as many as 94% agreed that communication among family members has a significant impact on family harmony. This indicates how the lack of conversation, fading sense of filial piety, and emotional distance within families are becoming deeper issues in today’s world.

Yet even in this era, moving stories of restoring family relationships through the Word continue to unfold.

▎ “Filial Piety and Respect” Bloom Again through the Word
The Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony – Bartholomew Tribe (hereafter referred to as the Bartholomew Tribe of Shincheonji) plants the seeds of gratitude and harmony within families through its Word-based education. Especially for young members, the church emphasizes filial piety and respect as core values of faith—not merely as knowledge, but as principles to be lived out.

“As children of God, we learn the essence and responsibility of family through the Word, and as a result, we come to stand with the right posture not only before God but also before our own families.”

This kind of faith-based education is helping bridge generational divides, restoring communication, and even healing long-held emotional wounds.

▎ Changed Lives through the Word
Ms. Han Seon-hwa (30) found herself losing her identity in the complexities of an extended family. But through the Word, she came to understand and care for her grandfather, experiencing deep transformation.

“Just as God waited for me, I came to wait for others. That act of waiting completely changed my life.”

Ms. Park Soo-ah (32) confessed that conversations with her family felt painful, as she had always felt unseen as the youngest child. But through the Word, she was able to recognize each family member as precious beings created by God.

“Respect created love. And when I began living by the Bible, real change happened to the point where whole family was surprised.”

Ms. Yoon Min-hee (29) had lost trust in both family and faith due to family conflicts and financial struggles in the past. However, through the Word and the church community, she learned to view life positively and with love.

“In the past, I would have overreacted in certain situations, but now, I remember the Word and respond calmly and thoughtfully.”

▎ The Word and a Practicing Community
The Bartholomew Tribe of Shincheonji goes beyond just teaching the Word. They actively promote practical application through various programs such as the “Filial Piety Campaign,” “Family Interview Project,” and the “Wise Couple Life Program.”

Through group activities tailored to each generation—like youth groups, adult groups, and women's groups—they foster greater understanding between generations and help families resolve conflicts through sincere communication.

▎ A Change That Begins with the Word and Spreads to the Family
The Bartholomew Tribe of Shincheonji emphasizes:

“When the Word straightens a person’s inner being, that naturally leads to harmony within the family.”

What we need right now may not be grand declarations, but small, meaningful actions: Learning to love our families again, seeing our loved ones through God’s eyes, and putting that love into practice.

When the Word becomes our foundation, both our families and our society can be changed. May the warm seed of the Word be planted in your family today.
