Spread of Change in Busan–Gyeongnam Christianity… “People Preaches with Shincheonji Teachings”
▎ 3rd Bible Seminar of 2026 held in Busan
▎ 78,000 attendees over 6 years to hear the “Secrets of Revelation”
▎ Cumulative 1,000 pastors… evidence of changing perception in Christian circles
▎ Shincheonji and established denominations also promise cooperation for Christian revival
As Shincheonji Bible Seminars continue, changes appear to be spreading within the Christian community in Busan and the Gyeongnam region. Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Andrew Tribe (Tribe Leader Lee Jung-woo) and the Busan James Tribe (Tribe Leader Lee Young-no) held a Shincheonji Bible Seminar (hereafter referred to as the Bible Seminar) on the 4th in Busan under the theme, “The Secrets of the Book of Revelation That Believers Who Hope for Heaven Must Know.”
Since COVID-19, approximately 15 Bible Seminars and 39 follow-up seminars and open houses have been held in the region, delivering the reality of the fulfillment of the prophecies of Revelation. During this period, about 78,000 believers visited the site to verify this, and the cumulative number of pastors exceeded 1,000.
In particular, the repeat attendance rate of pastors, reaching 80%, is interpreted as evidence of improving perceptions within Protestant circles in the Busan–Gyeongnam region. Reflecting this trend, among the 1,600 attendees at the Busan Bible Seminar that day, about 100 were pastors.
◆ Confessions of “I was wrong” continue… Pastors make decisions after discerning the Word
The event opened with a testimonial video featuring “confessions of change” from pastors of established churches who accepted Shincheonji teachings.
Pastor Heo Ji-hoon (pseudonym, Presbyterian denomination) said, “I really wanted to understand Revelation, so at first I listened to the teachings while hiding my identity, and I even gave up completing the course because revealing my identity was required during the graduation process. However, after hearing Chairman Man Hee Lee’s teachings, I decided to learn this Word again. Now I recommend that my congregation also learn the Word at Shincheonji. If it can save my congregation, I am willing to give up even the title of pastor.”
Chairman Man Hee Lee emphasized, as he does in every Bible Seminar, that whether one is a pastor or a believer, the standard of faith must be the Bible. He said, “Believing without knowing what you believe is not faith. Faith is not simply belief, but accurately knowing the meaning of the words of the Bible and its reality. In Revelation, there are the betrayer, the destroyer, and the savior, and one must know their realities. Since Revelation is mostly written in parables, if one does not know their meanings and realities, one does not truly know it.”
Criticism toward established denominations also followed. Chairman Lee pointed out, “Now is the time when Revelation is being fulfilled, so it is most important to know the reality from chapters 1 to 22. It is said that if one adds to or subtracts from Revelation, one cannot enter heaven, yet teaching without knowing it does not save believers but rather kills them.”
Pastor Jeong Hyun-soo (pseudonym, Presbyterian denomination), who attended the event, said, “In the past, I strongly opposed Shincheonji and did not even try to listen to its teachings. After hearing the teachings of Revelation, my thoughts completely changed. After hearing the Word, I made a decision that I could no longer postpone. I have gained a firm determination to fulfill the mission of delivering this Word under any circumstances.”
Pastor Yoo Jin-woo (pseudonym, Presbyterian denomination) said, “The teachings of Revelation are words that one person saw, heard, and testifies to, so I attended this Bible Seminar to discern the reality. While listening to the teachings, I gained confidence that I must have faith according to the Bible. As I came to understand the message that we must become one in God, the misunderstandings and prejudices I previously had naturally disappeared. From now on, I plan to preach centered on the teachings I learned at Shincheonji and expand exchanges with fellow pastors.”
Another testimony from a pastor was shared through a special video after Chairman Lee’s lecture. Pastor Kim Shin-seong (pseudonym, Presbyterian denomination), who has pastored for 40 years and had considered Shincheonji a heresy, said, “One day I received a letter from a Shincheonji member, and as I saw Shincheonji growing, I became curious. Eventually, I thought I should hear it myself, so I listened to the teachings. Pastor Kim added, “From the very first session at the mission center, my heart was shaken, and the more I listened, the more I understood and was moved. I came to realize that I had actually been mistaken all along.”
The attending pastors, checking the reality of Revelation through the Word, made decisions to apply it to their faith and ministry fields. After the lecture, twelve Protestant pastors went up on stage and shouted, “Let us not add to or subtract from the Word of Revelation, and let us be restored in the Word of Revelation and become true shepherds,” and then presented a bouquet to Chairman Lee to express their gratitude.
◆ Continued exchanges and discussions among pastors… Full-scale application of the Word
In the second part of the event, a “Pastoral Ministry Sharing and Exchange Session” was held, along with a program where participants experienced the Bible exams that Shincheonji members take weekly.
Divided into 20 tables, pastors, Shincheonji instructors, and evangelists discussed practical concerns under the theme of “Ways to Revive the Church and Face-to-Face Worship in the AI Era.”
The participants sought directions for unity based not on denominational or individual methods but on “God’s Word.” In addition, pastors from established denominations gained practical ideas to apply the teachings they learned to their ministry fields and explored possibilities for future cooperation and unity with local churches.
Lee Jung-woo, leader of the Andrew Tribe, said, “I hope that the participants were able to correctly understand the Book of Revelation and receive practical help in applying it to their faith fields. We will continue to hold Bible Seminars, follow-up seminars, and exchange programs to create opportunities for growth and cooperation together.”
Meanwhile, the 2026 Shincheonji Bible Seminar was held for the third time in Busan, following Gwangju and Seoul. As movements to apply the teachings of Revelation to actual faith and ministry fields continue, participation and interest are expected to expand further in the future.
