Figurative Wine and Olive Oil

Main Reference : Rv 6:6

Four living creatures : do not damage the oil and the wine

Q) What are the true meanings of figurative oil and wine?

A) Figurative wine = the word

Figurative oil = the word of testimony

[1] Figurative Wine : the word

⊙ Physical characteristic : vine → grapes → wine

Is 5:7

men of Judah = vines

Jn 15:1-5

Jesus = the true vine

    figurative vine = a person

∴ figurative wine = the word

Is 551-3

Is 25:6-8

(Spiritual) mountain: a feast (a banquet) the finest of wines which is aged wine = the revealed word

♧ The place where the wine is found : figurative mountain

♧ The finest of wines which is aged wine : the revealed word which had been sealed with figurative language for a long time, is opened at a proper time.

[2] Three Kinds of Wine

⊙ Types of figurative wine

- God's wine : old wine, new wine

- Satan's wine : the maddening wine of adultery

1) The old wine and new wine at Jesus' first coming

Lk 5:37-39

• the wine : the word

• wineskins (bowls) : pastors who preach the word that is in their hearts

Old wine

New wine

the Mosaic Law

Revelation, the fulfillment of the Old Testament

Old wineskins

New wineskins

the priests in those time

Jesus and his disciples

♧ The Meaning of “no one pours new wine into old wineskins”

It means that the pastors who had preached the law did not accept the word of revelation told by Jesus and his disciples.

♧ The way to reach salvation and the kingdom of heaven at Jesus’ first coming

One needed to drink the new wine (revelation of the fulfillment of the Old Testament) given by new wineskins (Jesus and his disciples)

2) The old wind and new wine at Jesus’ second coming

Lk 22:18-20

the wine that Jesus will drink again when the kingdom of God comes

Mt 26:29

drinking from the fruit of the vine anew in the Father’s kingdom → new wine

Old wine

New wine

revelation about the fulfillment of the Old Testament

(the gospel of testimony at Jesus’ first coming)

revelation, the fulfillment of the New Testament

Old wineskins

New wineskins

today’s pastors

the one who overcomes, the 12 tribes, new priests

3) The wine of adultery

At Jesus’ first coming

Dt 32:32-33

enemy’s wine = the venom of serpents, the deadly poison of cobras

Mt 23:33

teachers of the law, Pharisees

= serpents, cobras (Gn 3:1 the serpent - wild animal)

= the wild tree

Physical reality of the wine of adultery (= the wine from the wild tree, the venom of serpents) at the first Coming

false doctrines, arbitrary interpretations that Satan gave through the teachers of the law and Pharisees

♧ Why are arbitrary interpretations referred to as the wine of adultery?

It is because those who work as pastors in the name of God preach by receiving Satan’s seed, not God’s seed

♧ The result of eating the wine of adultery )the venom of serpents) → if one eats it, the soul will become dead

At the First Coming, Jesus called the temple of Jerusalem “whitewashed tombs” because the souls of the people of Jerusalem were all dead (Mt 23:27).

The time of Jesus’ second coming

Rv 18:2-3

Babylon : the wine of adultery → all nations have been destroyed

Rv 17:1-5

the true meaning of the wine of adultery that destroyed all nations at Jesus’ second coming

commentaries which are arbitrary interpretations added to the bible

- figurative woman : a pastor (Gal 4:19, 1 Cor 3:2)

- Who is a prostitute? a woman committing sexual immorality

→ false pastors who teach false teachings after receiving Satan’s seed (word)

- figurative gold : the word of truth which is the everlasting word of God (Prov 16:16)

- a golden cup? the bible which contains God’s everlasting words

[3] Figurative Oil : the Word of Testimony

⊙ Physical characteristic : olive tree → olives → oil

1) What is the figurative (olive) oil?

Lev 24:1-4

the lamps : olive oil (lighting the tent)

Zech 4:1-4

seven golden lampstands

Zech 4:10

7 golden lampstands = the seven eyes of the Lord

Zech 4:11-14

two olive trees = two who are anointed

Rv 1:

the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands

Rv 4:5

seven lamps that were blazing = the seven spirits of God (Rv 5:6)

Rv 11:3-4

two olive trees = two witnesses of Jesus

out of the mouths of the witnesses,

the words of what they saw and heard come

olive oil = the word of testimony of witnesses

(testify to the events of betrayal - destruction - salvation)

♧ Where and what did the witnesses see and hear?

because the two olive trees are by the seven golden lampstands.

The site where they saw and heard : the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands

What they saw and heard : the events of betrayal and destruction in there

The thing that testifies about the event of the end of the age : the olive oil

♧Why is this testimony important?

Only through listening to the word of testimony, people can realize and participate in the work of salvation that takes place after betrayal and destruction.

2) What is the oil in the parable of the ten virgins?

Mt 25:1-13

the parable of the ten virgins

- The wise virgins

lamp (O) + oil (O) → lighting a lamp → the wedding banquet (O)

- The foolish virgins

lamp (O) + oil (X) → failing to light a lamp → the wedding banquet (X)

A lamp = the Bible (Ps 119:105)

The oil = the word of testimony (olive oil)

The ones who sell oil = two witnesses of Jesus (olive trees)

▣ Summary of Key Points

■ Wine, olive tree = a pastor

■ Wine = the word

■ The (olive) oil = the word of testimony

■ Rv 6:6 the meaning of “do not damage the oil and the wine” → it means, do not damage the word of Truth of god

  1. I am learning so much about the figurative language of the Bible and the reasons why God had it written this way. I'm grateful.
