The Gwangju branch of We Are One spreads a culture of respect for life... "Sharing life with blood donation."
Shincheonji Youth Volunteer 'We Are One' Gwangju Branch of Jeonnam Regional Federation in Gwangju (We Are One Gwangju Branch) is continuing the blood donation activity of 'Life ON Youth ON', which started on August 27th.
This activity, which started at the same time across the country to commemorate the launch of WeAreOne, was prepared to spread a culture of preserving, protecting, and respecting life and to contribute to stabilizing the blood supply in Korea.
On the 8th, before the Chuseok holiday, the Gwangju branch of WeAreOne launched a blood donation campaign using 7 blood donation buses at the stadium of the Korean Red Cross Gwangju Jeonnam branch in Maegok-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju-si, to help stabilize the blood supply.
In particular, on this day, a total of 384 young members of the Gwangju branch of WeAreOne and the instructors of the Shincheonji Gwangju Church also participated in the blood donation.
A male member in his 20s who finished blood donation said, “I have been donating blood since I perform military duties. I feel proud when I think that my blood can save a precious life. There is a lot of blood shortage these days. If more people practice their love, it will be a more beautiful world."
Seo Seok-in, head of the blood donation support team at the Gwangju Jeonnam Blood Center, said, “It is a great thing that so many people become members of WeAreOne to practice love for our neighbors. Also, thank you so much for the nationwide blood donation campaign."
He continued, "I was worried that the blood stock would be even more insufficient due to the COVID19 and the holidays. I hope that your blood donation will give life and strength. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your contribution to creating a nationally stable health system."
Min Kyung, branch manager of the Gwangju Jeonnam Federation and head of the Gwangju Jeonnam Federation, said, “The number of participants in the blood donation campaign, which started on August 27, has surpassed 18,000 nationwide in less than 10 days, and we are now looking at 30,000 people. I'm experiencing the lesson that nothing is impossible if we put our hearts together."
He continued, "Because our blood donation is a precious thing giving a precious life to someone, we will continue to actively participate in sharing life."
WeAreOne, launched on July 30, is the largest youth volunteer group in Korea with about 90,000 people. This blood donation campaign is underway with the goal of securing blood for a total of 70,000 people with the participation of all possible members.
WeAreOne Gwangju Branch's blood donation activities have been carried out at four blood donation centers in Gwangju since August 27. A total of 3,089 people participated so far, and 2,480 people finished blood donation.
Blood donation cards and donation certificates generated through this campaign will be donated to necessary places in consultation with the Gwangju Jeonnam Blood Center.
