About 20,000 graduates, Corona non-face-to-face opportunity 

The COVID-19 is acting as an unprecedented crisis in the religious community. Group infections in religious facilities, which have continued to occur in churches, have spread negative perceptions about religion. Starting from the pandemic, face-to-face religious activities shrink, the breakaway of believers is also accelerating. According to a survey conducted on pastors in the 'Corona 19 Follow-up Survey of Korean Churches in the First Half of 2021' announced in August by the Protestant Church Ministry Data Research Institute, 20% of members have never attended worship service since corona. The number of members of Protestants in the Korean church decreased by about 400,000 last year alone. This number is the highest number ever. This is considered to be the 'biggest crisis' and the growth of the churches has turned red.

As such, the concerns of the church are deepening, but ironically, Shincheonji Church of Jesus is showing great growth despite the complete non-face-to-face worship service. Curiosity of the Christianity is also increasing as to why believers seek Shincheonji. 

One of the graduates of the 112th Zion Christian Mission Center said "I found the true light of my life by meeting God and Shincheonji Church of Jesus. I have lived my whole life without religion, but the more I learned the Word, the more I felt joy and hope overflowing in my empty heart. These words I realized were the perfect truth as if a puzzle were put together, and other people's views and evaluations did not affect me in any way.” 

The Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji Church of Jesus) Zion Christian Mission Center has produced a total of 18,838 graduates (11,162 domestic and 7,676 overseas) this year. On the 26th, the faces of thousands of graduates who participated in the online conference platform 'Zoom' were displayed on the large TV screen installed behind the podium simultaneously in the midst of the spread of Corona 19, and it was a spectacular sight. About 40,000 people connected to the YouTube channel that broadcast the event in real time and watched the graduation ceremony. 

On the podium, Chairman Lee explained the reason why Shincheonji Church of Jesus has no choice but to grow despite the exclusion of existing denominations and the Corona 19 crisis. Chairman Lee said, “Today, we are created according to the Bible like stamping a seal. Shincheonji means a new heaven and a new earth. What we harvested, how we engrave the Word in our hearts like a seal at the center, and how we created the 12 tribes are according to the Bible.” 

Chairman Lee said, “Now you have to know yourselves. There will be a distinction between those who are born of God's seed and become members of God's family and those who are not. Not everyone goes to heaven. We must be created again with the word of God. The prophecies and its reality of the Book of Revelation, which no one knew before, were testified by 5W1H for the first time since the creation of the world. And the media around the world are blowing the trumpets. God’s work is fulfilled as promised. Please, work hard so that the darkness of the world can shine brightly and become a light.” 

Zion Christian Mission Center produced 18,382 graduates last year. Since face-to-face religious activities were completely suspended due to COVID-19, 37,222 people have completed the Bible education course online until this year and officially joined the Shincheonji Church of Jesus. 

The growth of Shincheonji Church of Jesus is attracting attention from Christianity. This is contrary to the general atmosphere of the church community, that the number of church members is decreasing in the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, it is evaluated as unprecedented in the world in that it was achieved only through online education. 

The reason why the number of members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus is increasing like this is interpreted as the reason for practicing a faith with the word of the Bible. Instead of face-to-face religious activities, it is analyzed that there are many people who started studying with interest after encountering the high-level Bible education provided by Shincheonji Church of Jesus as an environment was created where they could access various words through YouTube. 

In particular, the 'Shincheonji Online Bible Seminar' and 'Testimony on Prophecy and Fulfillment of Revelation, God's New Covenant' which were held from the second half of this year by chairman Lee and the 12 tribe leaders of Shincheonji, received great responses from church members and pastors at home and abroad. And, this affects the growthing trend.

 

Lecturer Park Seong-hoon of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, who announced his feelings on the day of graduation, said, “There was a member who came to Korea from the Philippines after listening to chairman Lee’s seminar and started taking the course. She took two to three hours everytime getting interpretation until late at night over 10 p.m."

He also said, “There was a Protestant elder who came to the mission center after watching the Bible Seminar of Revelation. He said, 'There are no right answers in what I learned so far. I wasted a long time.' He studied hard and repeated over and over again so as not to forget the words he had learned (revelation of Shincheonji). The lecture on the book of Revelation has satisfied the hunger of hundreds of thousands of believers. Next year, more people will come to Shincheonji."

 

Graduate student Mi Ji Park also said, “Through Online Revelation Seminar, a number of pastors, seminarians, and believers are surprisingly flocking to Shincheonji. Many churches around the world signed a mou with Shincheonji. There are constant requests to dispatch instructors for each church establishing Shincheonji theology curriculum. We are witnessing the work of salvation at the sound of the last trumpet.” 

As various lectures are held online, it is also noteworthy that pastors of each church, who have been hesitant to participate in lectures or events of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, are actively attending, signing an MOU and requesting lectures to Shincheonji Church of Jesus.

On this day, a head of director, Tan Young Jin, of the Zion Christian Center said, “(Since Corona 19), We have been worshiping online and conducting the education of the mission center online. Following quarantine guidelines strictly, all church members are evangelizing online. As time goes by, online evangelism is getting better.” 

An official from Shincheonji Church of Jesus said, “Across the world, due to COVID19, the number of people is increasing, who need religion, experiencing diseases, disasters, and hardships and considering the meaning of life and suffering. Religion must be able to provide answers to these people. In the religious community where face-to-face activities are limited, 'education of the Word' will become more important, and in the end, places with the words of the Bible will have no choice but to grow.” 

He continued, “From January 3, every Monday and Thursday, lecturers from the mission center will broadcast the elementary course of the Zion Christian Mission Center.  As pastors requested for the course, please listen and judge.”
