What is the light and darkness in the bible?

Last year, Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which raised an explosive response with its online seminar on the book of Revelation, is continuing its open lecture on testimony on the parables through YouTube this year. 

Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Chairman Man Hee Lee) has been conducting the seminar on 'Testifying to the book of Revelation, the Secret of the Kingdom of Heaven' through its official YouTube channel since the beginning of this year. On the 31st, lecturer Su Hyeon Yoo of the Bartholomew tribe gave a lecture entitled lesson 8 'Light, the Lampstand, and the Blind, Deaf, and Clothes' out of the 23 lessons of the Zion Christian Mission Center introductory course. 

Instructor Yoo Su Hyeon said, “Light is the word of life, the lampstand is the spirit and the missionary, the blind and the deaf is the one who do not understand the Word, and the clothes means heart and deed‧doctrine, fine linen means righteous acts.

Instructor Yoo brought up the topic of lecture by saying, "Let's check the Bible to see why this answer came out." 

Instructor Yoo  said "In 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6, there are you who receive salvation belong to the light and people whose destruction come on them suddenly belonging to the darkness at the Second Coming of Jesus.  In the bible, there are not only a physical light but also a spiritual light. As the characteristic of the physical light shine, the spiritual light shines and reveals something so that we can distinguish. also, it gives life to all things."

He continued, “In John 1:1–5, The word in the beginning was God. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. So, the word of life becomes spiritual light. Contrarily, the state of spiritual darkness is a state in which there is no word of life, so it can be called ignorance without the word.” 

In addition, he explained “The biblical day and night meant the time was day because Jesus came as light into the world at the first coming. In Isa. chapter 29, it says ‘Vision given by God, that is the prophecy of the Old Testament was sealed. It was a spiritual night at the time because it was sealed with parables and no one knew its meaning.” 

Regarding the parable of the blind and the deaf, he siad “If we look at the book of Revelation, which records the events of the Lord’s second coming, in Rev. 3:17-18, Jesus says to the angel of the church in Laodicea, The angel of the church in Laodicea says 'I am rich, I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing'. But, Jesus said he does not realized himeself being wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. If you think about logically whether it is possible to not know the physical blind, you can see that this means spiritually blind.” 

He continued, “The open word is light, and it is preached through the promised shepherd who has come as the true light. With this, day and night can be distinguished. Today is also the same as the First Coming. To the children of darkness, Jesus comes life a thief in the night and destruction will come on them. But, to the children of light he should not come like a thief in the night. So, let us be the children of the day who belong to the light and welcome the Lord.”
