Main Reference: Jn 3:31-34

- Heavenly teaching: The one from above ⇒ Testifies to what he has seen and heard in heaven.

- Earthly teaching: The one from earth ⇒ Testifies to things from earth as they belong to earth.

[1] Religion: God's teaching, education at the heavenly level

▶ Religion [宗(/joing/, "highest") 敎(/gyo/, "teaching")] : The highest teaching

     (Reference: 宗(/jong/, highest) = 宀 + 示)

     (宀 : Symbol of sky, 示 : (/shi/, "to show")

     Teachings at the highest level - the teachings of what was shown from heaven.

▶ Religion: Heavenly teaching that reconnects God with people as their lifelines were cut due to sin.

∴ Religion is the teaching from above that God, the Creator, and the Most High, provides to man, the lowly beings, on things of heaven.

1) Religion's owner (founder)

God, the Creator of the heaven and earth (in heaven).

2) Types of religion

Christianity, Confucianism, Buddhism, Islam, and Hinduism among others.

■ The reason why Christianity is the true religion

The True God works in Christianity, and only He can resolve the problems of sin, which no other religions can. God sent His son, Jesus, who is free of sin, to earth according to what He had promised, and Jesus was crucified to atone for the sins of mankind. This was the answer to atonement.

3) Religious scriptures

▶ Writings that make known God's will to people

▶ The scripture of Christianity, "the Bible"

🇮 Why is Christianity's scripture, the Bible, true?

Because God works in accordance with the words of the Bible

Jn 1:1 God = Word

The 66 books of the Bible: Sacred writings God's chosen writers wrote down when God showed them the things of heaven.

🇮 Proof that God works with the Bible

When we look at various religions, there is no fulfillment. However, only the Scripture of Christianity, the Bible, has the fulfillment. When the appointed time comes, the Living God fulfills what He had promised, and at the time of fulfillment, we can see and touch the physical entities of the fulfillment.

∴ Christianity → Also called the religion of experience

🇮 Prophecies of the Bible and physical entities of the fulfillment

① prove God exists

② prove God works in accordance with the word

4) Reason and purpose of religion

▶ Reason of religion : To have people know God, who is life, and Satan, who is death

▶ Purpose of religion : To have people enter the kingdom of heaven(eternal life) by distinguishing the truth and lies through understanding two kinds of spirits - one is the spirit of God and the other is the spirit of Satan

- 2 Tim 3:15 The holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation

- Mt 7:21 Only he who does the will (Word) of my Father → Enter the kingdom of heaven

- Jn 12:48 The Word of Jesus condemns him at the last day

- Rv 20:12 judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books

[2] What is the true meaning of faith?

1) Standards of faith

Jn 1:1 Word = God (1 Jn 1:1-2 Jesus)

▶ Meaning of faith [信 (/shin/, "to believe"), 仰 (/ang/, "to look up")] : Believing and looking up to God and Jesus (the Word).

▶ Faith : Believing the words (promise) of God and Jesus. 

2) Faith that God acknowledges (Mt 7:21)

❤ Summary of Key points

◾ Religion : Teachings at the heavenly (God's) level.

◾ True religion and scripture : Christianity and the Bible.

◾ Faith : Understand and keep the will of God based on the Bible.

◾ The reason we need religion

Religion is the heaven's teaching on things of heaven for people who fell into sin so that they would come out and return to God, be saved from death to life, and live with God in His kingdom, heaven.
