Shincheonji Doctrine, basic lesson 1: The Need to Know the Meaning of the Bible

1) Why do you need to study the Bible?

   > to know God's will

2) Why do you need to know the Bible (God's will)?

   > to go to heaven by knowing and believing in God's will to be fulfilled through the Bible

★ If you don't know the Bible

    → You don't know God's will (promise)

    → you can't do God's will

    → you can't go to heaven.

★ If you know the Bible

    → you know God's will

    → you can do God's will

    → you can go to heaven.

3) How can you know God and Jesus?

   > you can know them through the Bible

[1] The Word in the Beginning

1) God who is the word in the beginning

Jn 1:1 Word = God

   ▶ knowing the world = knowing God

   ▶ if you have the word in you, God will be in you and you in Him.

Jn 1:2 he (the word) was with God in the beginning

▶ where the word is = where God is (the word and God work together)

Jn 1:3 creation with the word

- physical creation

- spiritual creation (Zec 12:1 the LORD forms the spirit of man within him)

▶ if the word is in you, then God is with you, and your spirit is created like God.

Jn 1:4 n him (the word) was life

- the word → light that shines on people

- without the word → no God, no life, no light

▶ there is no life in the words of men, but there is life in the words of God.

Jn 1:5 the light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

■ What is the light and the darkness?

□ 1 thes 5:1-9

- children of the light(light, day): people who belong to God

- children of the darkness(darkness, night): people who belong to Satan

▶ to belong to God, you must have God's word, which is the light, in your heart.

2) The son of God, who is the word in the beginning

1 Jn 1:1-2 the word in the beginning, the word of life = Jesus

▶ those born of God's seed become God's children and God's family

[2] The Word of Eternal Life

Jn 4:24 God = Spirit

Jn 1:32-34 God(Holy spirit) → Jesus(flesh)

Jn 10:30 spirit becomes one with flesh

▶ If the holy spirit comes on a person, then the person will speak the same words and do the same work as the holy spirit.

Mt 4:4 desert: Jesus → the devil

"man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God"

God's words = food that leads to eternal life

Jn 6:63 Jesus' words = spirit, life

Jn 6:67-68 Peter: God's (Jesus') words = words of eternal life

∴ God's words = the word (food) of eternal life that gives life to the spirit

[3] Being Reborn of God's Seed and Spirit

Lk 8:11 God's seed = God's word

▶ if you are born of God's seed → God's child: you can call God your father

    if you are born of the devil's seed → child of the devil

1 Pet 1:23 of imperishable seed (=living and enduring word of God) → reborn

▶ if you are reborn of the seed of God's word, then God's spirit will be with you = God (Holy spirit) is where the word (seed) is (Jn 1).

Mt 13:37-39 seed of the word → God's children

▶ Good seed: children of heaven

    weeds: children of the evil one

Acts 17:29 born of God's seed → God's offspring

▶ Jn 8:44 the father of Jews who lie (born of the devil's seed): the devil

Jn 10:35 those who received God's word (= God's seed, spiritual seed) = gods

Jas 1:18 firstfruits born through the word of truth (= God's seed) = 144,000 people of the 12 tribes of Mount Zion: firstfruits (Rv 14:)

[4] Becoming Holy by the Word of Truth

1 Cor 3:16-17 a person's heart (=God's temple): holy spirit lives in him → must be holy

▶ for your heart to become God's temple, your heart should be holy enough for God to live in.

◆ By what can you become holy?

Jn 17:17-19 you can become holy by the truth (=God's word)

▶ without the word of God, you cannot become holy.

If you have the word in the beginning (seed of the word) in you, 

then God will be with you, 

and you will become the child of God and heaven. 

Then you will be qualified o go to heaven.
